Now, to start does not mean PROFITABLE. Let me say that again, too start a home-based business does NOT mean one bit it will be PROFITABLE off the rip. We are focusing on the “starting” and concept/organizing in hopes it can metamorphosis into a phenomenal business that is profitable in the future.

Why a home-based business?

If you already have your own home/living space etc., starting a home-based business is an excellent way to put what you’ve got (your space and resources) to work for you. Home businesses can be very organized, systematic and simple in their layout when set up correctly. In addition, home-based businesses are often less expensive than traditional brick-and-mortar operations because they don’t require any additional real estate or office equipment costs, over-head is already built in. It’s also important to note that many people prefer working from home; it offers freedom from long commutes and office politics while still allowing them to make money! As of today fuel costs is averaging over $6 bucks a gallon and may get as high as a giraffes butt, to $10 bucks!

Today’s mix of inflation (which will be here for some years), crude oil steadily rising, vehicle maintenance, commutes from hell because people these days seem like they don’t know how to drive, who wouldn’t stay at home and keep more of their earnings.

What tools will you need?

Before you even begin to think about how to start a home-based business, you should figure out what tools and resources you need. You need somewhere quiet, organized and uncluttered in order to get any real work done—and if your home office is crammed with toys, books and laundry baskets that makes for an inefficient working environment. If you don’t have a dedicated space set up yet, use our pointers on how to organize your home office so you can find everything you need when it comes time to work. If all else fails, remember that there are always coffee shops where WiFi is free!

  • Determine type of business. Are you building or constructing things? If so you need dedicated area that is open and safe to work in. Are you digitally based, but need quietness to speak with clients or do ZOOM calls? Make sure you can outfit a space to limit external noise.
  • Transform a closet, attic, basement, garage, patio, extra bedroom, often times people they don’t have the space when in fact they do. The issue is they don’t want to inconvenience their current setup or clean up an area that will grant them space.
  • Do some market research and find out from others in your home-base space what they have in their home-base setup. Youtube is great for this! Many people share their tools even grant links to the resources they use.
  • Communication! Do you need a headset with noise cancellation? Do you need a laser printer? Do you need shipping labels, scale, etc.?
  • See what digital elements you already have in your home that you can optimize i.e. cellphone, laptop, desktop, old iPads, t.v. w/internet connection, professional camera, old cellphone with great camera, GoPro, recording devices, etc.

Remember your home serves as not only a living quarters, but tool! Maximize every inch of it!

Where will you do it?

If you’re thinking about opening up your own home-based business, you probably don’t have much money and little space in your home. That doesn’t mean it can’t be done though. Organized, systematic and simple, these are three words that are extremely important when starting off with a new endeavor at home. Let me show you how easy it is to get started with no money or space at all. First, we will look at different ways to start small. For example, if you want to sell items online, there are services like Etsy that allow you to set up an online store for free. There are also sites like eBay where people buy and sell items on their site for a fee (usually around 10%). Then you have Facebook Marketplace (not a fan but it’ll do) and SAMCART for digital products. Also working offsite from your home does not mean you’re not home-based. You can still work in the field and use free tools out in the field for you to conduct business operations! I strongly suggest maximizing your operation, by finding and using these spaces/tools, be-it cafe’s, library, meet-ups, parks, etc. In fact this is how I started CEO DriveHER in the field using cafes to do my work and meet up with my clients. So many spots and staffers new me I constantly got free food, coffee, made new friends, grew to love my community more, network, and so much more.

What kind of product do you want to sell?

One of the first steps in that process is to figure out what kind of product you want to sell. Do you want to sell physical products, like food, merchandise, or clothing? Or maybe you want something digital, like ebooks, stock photos, consulting services, etc. It doesn’t matter what you’re selling, because by following these tips, anybody can start a small home-based business in 2022 with little money and little space in their home.

  1. Decide what products/services does not require any investing or startup costs like reselling, brokering, affiliates, etc.
  2. Find what is the easiest/simplest that can yield a small reasonable profit over time.
  3. See what products does not require for you to hold inventory if possible or find vendors that offer NET 60 NET 90 accounts which allows for you to obtain the product and sell it at a profit, but pay at a later date for the inventory.

Putting your plan into action

Creating a business plan is an important step in starting any business. The process of formalizing your plans and writing them down can help you see potential problems before they arise, and it’s vital in helping you develop your company strategy. It doesn’t need to be complicated—and if you are just starting out with no money, chances are it won’t be—but as with anything, planning will make everything much simpler down the road. Keep things systematic and simple, and don’t worry about making it perfect. Get something on paper that you can refer back to when needed, then start putting your plan into action!

I cannot stress the importance of using even the simplest template for business planning to help outline the various components of your business. It must be written down constructively and concise. Here are a few comments your business plan/template should have.

  • Business structure type i.e. LLC, Scorp, Ccorp, Partnership, etc. DBA’s
  • Location and Region. Are you serving the local community, international, digital e-commerce (but where).
  • Marketing and social media type.
  • Value Proposition. What’s the value of your product/service?
  • What problem does your product solve?
  • Will your business be scalable and sailable in one to 5 years?
  • Demographic and psychographic of customer. Identify who they are, where they’re at, and what they think, what’s their general mindset.
  • Media kit.
  • Business communication like business email, business address, business phone line, etc.
  • Target audience via free media platforms.
  • Budget and operational excellence.
  • What type of free or low costing project management services can you use for email marketing, planning, structuring etc.

Finding success!

Having no money and no space does not mean you can’t start your own business. Indeed, it makes it even more important to think systematically and act simply if you want to get ahead. I started all my companies on pennies! Now, I don’t suggest that’s always the move nor is that the case for most startups, but if planned right and executed what little money invested can go a long ways and teach how to manage more with less.

THE SECRET TO SUCCESS IS PLANNING

See as a planner I’m good about mapping, and drawing things out, where I lacked was in the area of parking tasks and timing, I sucked at it totally often running behind schedule looking at my well laid plan asking myself why.

“Without a plan, even the most brilliant business can get lost. You meed to have goals, create milestones, and have a strategy in place to set yourself up for success.” – Yogi Berra

I’ve falling in love with the planning process all over again! I must admit I’d been feeling a bit overwhelmed because I just couldn’t seem to find the best planning software nor format for my business and life needs.

As a serial entrepreneur this is majorly difficult, trying to weave seamlessly my life and businesses components. The other day I was out with my daddy have our weekly daddy daughter date and he said something so profound, he said “NuNu (my nickname) one thing about you is you’re a planner and that’s awesome.” He was so proud and amazed of me, he was able to calculate things I’d said even years ago and repeat to me how I’d then made plans. In fact I’ve been like that my entire life, but not without many detours, hiccups, and lost!

My daddy was so proud, but internally I was cringing because I felt everything, but that. See my father has been able to hear my plans, and now see the manifestation of my plans, but I on the other-hand knew of my dirty little secret. That secret being though I can draft some of the best laid planes, I can be bad at executing with precision. I am a planner, buuuuuuuut a lazy executioner, so bad that often times I’m livid at my poor execution because I know the outcome could’ve been a million times better, with less stress, ugh!

Now, for those looking from the outside in you’d NEVER know, but I know, and I carried some shame from it. I’d try so many different things, timers, softwares, planners, outlines, you name it, but it just wasn’t cutting it, that is until one of my clients who is a master at planning and business development, Phyliss of Hulbert Custom Designs, put me on to a new project management software by the name of CLICK UP (https://clickup.com/?fp_ref=kimberly31)!

Photo by Karolina Grabowska on Pexels.com

I have tried everything from Trello, to Asana, looked into Dubsado, used HoneyBook, Keap, and other CRM and project management tools. Though they all have their place, hands down from costs, to integration, to format, to ease, to structure and unlimited use…. CLICK UP is the best! See as a planner I’m good about mapping, and drawing things out, where I lacked was in the area of parking tasks and timing, I sucked at it totally often running behind schedule looking at my well laid plan asking myself why. Now, having use CLICK UP the answer punched me right in the face!

I kid you not it seems as thought my production time has dropped immensely allowing for my execution time and volume to skyrocketed! This by default has raised my drive, momentum, and confidence! I am so on it dog gon it! I’m feeling unstoppable! Their system is so awesome I’ve parked all my companies in that one platform, creating various “spaces” and managing everything from there. I love see the planning process, the sub-categories, and the ability to map my time and progress chart from by a simple click of a button. This software is a massive game-changer, so much so I am making it a required tool in my business courses and business development coaching services.

One thing about me, I know something when it can help reshape a business for the better. There’s no way you cannot be profitable using this software, not manage staff/freelancers/contractors, or fail to execute. Success from the planning process rises up off the page and for me forced me to work even harder and execute more tasks.

I went ahead and purchased an annual subscription for the business tier after using the software for 30 minutes! I knew where CLICK UP could take me and my businesses so I dived in head first and I am loving it! If you are a one man band business to a large start-up this is the greatest project management tool! I already cancelled my Asana and I am using my Trello for personal/home use. FYI, I was able to integrate my calendars, emails, and others components. Please be sure to checkout https://clickup.com/?fp_ref=kimberly31 CLICK UP, you will NOT be disappointed!

Starting Your Week Off Right

Many entrepreneurs make time for self-care on weekends, but there’s power in starting your week off right—not just mentally, but physically. With careful planning and organization ahead of time, you can power through Mondays more effectively than ever before. Here are five key ways that you can schedule your workday so that it’s easier to get through your Monday. And if you know how important starting your week off correctly is to success, why not give it a try? See what works best for you! You might be surprised by how productive you feel at mid-week with these tweaks under your belt. Best practices for staying motivated and organized as an entrepreneur: If there’s one thing most entrepreneurs have in common, it’s their ability to succeed when they simply show up and power through an average day.

The Power Of Mornings

While it’s important to block off time for your side hustle, you don’t want that commitment to detract from your main work. If possible, limit your side hustle commitments during standard business hours. Wake up an hour early each day and power through your Monday—and keep powering through every morning after that. This will help maximize your productivity throughout your week as well as allow you more opportunities for networking with other business owners.

Having a morning routine is one of the most powerful ways you can start your week off right. But what is it? How do you create one? Learn ways to walk through and craft a morning routine that maximizes your success. By following steps that accommodate your style, you’ll feel more energized, inspired, and productive when tackling new projects or making crucial decisions during your day. Plus, research shows that having good self-discipline in the morning will have positive carryover effects throughout your workday—and even in other areas of life outside of work. Find the best tips for starting your week strong by waking up with purpose, this blog has a number of those tips!

For example an awesome morning routine may not even begin with work. Here is an example of my morning routine/ritual to maximize my days especially a Monday (when I actually commit to them, ugh):

  1. Wake up before the sun. There is just something so magical and powerful feeling like you are beating most to the start of a day.
  2. Start straightening up my home like cleaning, moving things around, etc. It’s my thing and cleaning helps clear my mind and revs me up. My environment is a key element in how I produce throughout the day.
  3. Use my French press to make tea or coffee. I think I do this more so for the aromatherapy.
  4. Make a list of tasks/goals to tackle for day and week.
  5. Exercise! 20-minute HIIT or long walk with dog. That morning air is powerful!
  6. Tackle emails. I loath emails, it really effects me mentally. I am still learning was of tackling emails, so I prioritize them and answer those I can grant an immediate response to.

The Importance Of Scheduling

There’s a reason Monday is called New Week, New You. As an entrepreneur, you have so much to juggle every day—from tasks at work and everyday errands to business decisions and your social life. It’s important that you carve out time in your schedule for everything you need to do, otherwise, one thing will eventually fall through the cracks. The key to keeping track of it all? Stay organized with a weekly planner. Plan out exactly what you want to accomplish each week, block off times for specific appointments, keep track of how many hours you spend on each task or project, and set deadlines for both work-related goals as well as personal plans.

Staying Organized

As an entrepreneur, you wear many hats—which is why staying organized and prioritizing your week is essential. If you aren’t already using a tool like Todoist, Assana, or Trello for project management, set up an account ASAP; these tools make it easy to stay on top of things while making sure everything’s moving along according to schedule. Plus, they can integrate with nearly every other platform out there to ensure no task falls through the cracks. Having everything in one place not only helps keep projects running smoothly but also means you’re able to view what needs doing at any given time without spending hours hunting down information.

Staying Motivated

Starting off a new week can be daunting for any entrepreneur, and it’s easy to give up on your bigger business goals when you feel unmotivated. But if you want to power through Monday and maximize your workweek, there are ways you can stay motivated throughout. One way is by following a weekly schedule (hint: try getting stuff done early in your week!) or self-organizing yourself with apps like Evernote and Trello. It’s also helpful to keep track of all of your tasks so that you don’t fall behind—and finally, reward yourself for completion at each stage! Most importantly, remember that just because one day goes wrong doesn’t mean you’re doomed; every successful entrepreneur has had their fair share of setbacks. You’ve got what it takes!

Most Successful Practices Of Entrepreneurs: & Recap

Monday can be the most productive day for entrepreneurs. If you’re not already powering through your Mondays, start now! Here are some best practices that will help get you started. 1. Staying Organized & Staying on Task (Weekly Focus): One of the biggest contributors to success is organization; without organization, an entrepreneur doesn’t have control over their business or their time—which are both very important assets. Starting with a plan helps keep yourself accountable for your tasks and reminds you what exactly needs to get done throughout your week—and it won’t take more than 30 minutes once per week. 2. Listening to Audiobooks While Working Out: It might sound like too much at first, but listening to audiobooks while working out is ideal for two reasons. First, you don’t need to focus on something else during workouts; just listen while continuing other activities such as running or weight lifting. Second, audiobooks allow you to multitask; combining reading books with exercise and workouts becomes even easier. 3. Creating Systems Over Goals: This practice seems counterintuitive because we’ve been led to believe that goals should be set in order to achieve them. However, creating systems around small daily habits yields better results than setting vague long-term goals or big monthly ones—plus they’re easier to create and maintain. 4. Tracking Weekly Effort Hours: In addition to tracking hours worked, keeping track of effort hours means keeping track of how hard you work each day. When efforts exceed expectations, then those efforts become part of your new standards for future days. 5. Keeping Track of Your Daily Routine: It may seem boring and pointless, but keeping a log of your routine makes it easy to assess which parts can be streamlined or improved upon by comparing today with yesterday—or last month with next month.

gaining time currency, A GIG WORKERS DAY OF SUCCESS

I am really big on those in the gig space that have an extremely flexible schedule to not abuse their flexibility. The human body craves structure and disciple. If you fail to train it, it will rule over you. Whelp, I fell off to some degree with my scheduling. Day after day though I have plenty of time to spare to the things I it still felt wasted. I soon recognized the common denominator was the times I was getting my day started.

Photo by Bich Tran on Pexels.com

How you start your day is one thing, but when you start your day is another! I know this to be true without a shadow of a doubt. I don’t care what anyone says, but starting your day early (considerably 5am – 8am) is simply magical. I easily am able to triple my workload and have an overwhelming sense of accomplishment, smashing goals from left to right! Also tend to make the most money on those days in the weirdest way, it is as if you’re being rewarded for simply planning and doing with an organized construct.

Getting up early feels like a cheat code of sorts, as if you’ve got a head start on the world or something. The beauty of starting your day early is you can set the rules as you like and work it how you like. I personally like to start by lounging a little and moving slow, you don’t want to over stimulate your mind and body too quick when readjusting to the early morning schedule. I love to make a list of “things to do”, I suggest your list have anywhere from 15 – 25 things outlined that must be done that day. Place the most simplest tasks on that list and don’t worry about how perfect or in order the tasks must be (you can do these tasks randomly, but smash a bunch while early). I am all over the place with my list and put the most random things on it. Some of the tasks are menial while wedging in some larger ones. Here ‘s an example of that list:

  1. Wash 1 load of clothes.
  2. Hang up and fold all laundry.
  3. Write 2-3 chapters in new upcoming ebook.
  4. Send out coupons to email list.
  5. Upload on vlog to Youtube.
  6. Commit to at least 20 gig jobs today on the various platforms.
  7. Hang up new pics in home office.
  8. Walk at least 1 mile today.
  9. Order ink off Amazon.
  10. Don’t forget to journal.
  11. Meditate for 30 mins (split the meditations into 2 session of 15 min.).
  12. Be sure to send email to x, y, and z!
  13. Draft new contract for clients.
  14. Get oil change.
  15. Call Uber in regards to a payment dispute.
  16. Weave in 1 to 2 new types of gig apps.

I think you get the point. You can weave whatever into your daily list equation. the reason I say to create a high volume on your list is because even if you only get 1/2 of those things done, mentally when you check those items off, you will feel an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. You will also be able to see how to set obtainable goals daily, you will see if you’re an overachiever or just not doing enough. This will help you to calibrate yourself and self-manage on a daily basis!

Photo by Ketut Subiyanto on Pexels.com

Now, I use to do this same thing when I would wake up later and already feel defeated because so much of my day had been consumed with sleep. Getting up at 10am to 11am does not compare to the effective time currency you gain from waking up just a few hours earlier.

If you notice I primarily listed regular daily responsibilities, this was done because when home and regular life stuff is taken care of we can be more effective on the the gig platforms, working with less stress and anxiety. How often have you been bogged down in your head while working gigs thinking about things you must do at home. Or worst thinking of what to do and not forget to do while on the platforms? To keep this from happening when you make your list over your favorite cup of coffee of tea be sure to take a screenshot of the task and put it in your phone and reflect over it throughout your day.

So let us all win back our time not just on the platforms and left to feeling rushed to make a dollar, but by being responsible and training the body to work off the natural God given timeframe we ought to stay working within. Waking up earlier with our type of flexible schedules reduces our stress tremendously, we only get one mind one body, take care of it holistically my fellow gig workers.

FREEING YOURSELF OF THE GUILT OF MAKING MONEY IN THE MIDST OF CIVIL UNREST

BUSINESS GUILT IS A REAL THING

On today’s blog bleep I want to focus on something I have been dealing with internally as it relates to my business, while the world seems to be collapsing all around us. It is June 1st 2020 and without a shadow of doubt I seen this year to not only be my most profitable yet, but life changing. I see super-natural growth and expansion of my businesses and life like never before; but to look outside my door, chaos, death, and mayhem ensues.

At first a part of me wanted to scale things back and move cautiously, but something is whispering, do more, go harder, cause money never stops from moving. In this daily blog bleep, I want to encourage those that may feel confused and unsure, I need you to understand the world’s actions will not stop your flow, and there’s much to gain in this season of civil unrest. Your greatest challenge will be to move past your emotions, be firm on your goals, put on your blinders, and mind your own affairs. The world will work itself out.

Once I got the revelation of those that will make bank regardless if the world thrives or burn to ground I made the decision to do more in business, to structure my business, to conserve monies earned in my business, and move with a deeper sense of intentionality and purpose. At some point the rioting will stop, resources will dry up in certain sectors, they’ll be nothing left to destroy. Humanity can only take but so much of the destruction that is sweeping across this nation. So while others worry and fear, while people fight in the streets, we must not give into the chaos and mind our business. It may seem cold hearted, it may come off as too casual of a state of mind, but I strongly suggest that for your sanity you keep yourself busy with building your business. Be creative, be driven, do not be moved by this. Pray for the best, send out good vibrations, and remember when this all resolves you do not want to be among the mentally and spiritually paralyzed individuals. This will require willpower like nothing before.

So remember, money does not stop flowing, money does not disappear it simply flows in a new direction. Will money flow your way? Only you can determine that. Double down on the biz!

As a deep feeler and someone that wants to do her part in society these external factors have a great affect on my spirit, it hurts seeing others hurt and me feeling overwhelmingly obligated to help. I had to simply accept this is not my battle, I will help and do my part when the time comes. I will contribute to society by being someone that creates jobs, build up those that need help, and stimulate our American economy. I do not need a sign, I do not need to protest, I do not need to post every opinion I have, I only need to be productive and focused.

Do not feel guilty for earning a dollar, run that ad campaign, keep selling your products, do a flash sale, keep posting about your business, for my gig workers; get out there, be safe, venture out into safer territories, double down on getting them dollars. I dare to say we face the ability to make more money than ever in these times. I cannot fully explain it, but something in screaming on the inside earning potential will be extremely high for those that work and build businesses!

Be safe and with much love I pray you all nothing but abundance and success!

MONDAYS ARE THE BEST DAYS

SUBSCRIBE TO MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL

If you ever wanted a great reason to restart anything or to get a fresh start on what you’ve already been doing, then Monday should be a great reason for you too. Mondays are filled with possibilities, you get to from scratch map, plan, set, and visualize your goals and intentions. Monday starts the countdown of a seven day plumb-line (a measuring instrument), it allows you to measure short-term and long-term goals.

Photo by Suzy Hazelwood on Pexels.com

Monday – Write out your plans, map your week, itemize your goals from greatest to least. Write out what is of most importance and how much time you need to commit to it for completion. You also want to set a budget! What needs to be paid, what are you planning to invest in, figure out how much money do you need to make this week. As a gigger, freelancer, entrepreneur we have an income that has many variables, so this is key. You do not want to be playing catch-up on anything. If there are bills that need to be paid, go ahead and pay them! If you have to cut back on expenses and you clearly see this, DO IT! Don’t assume the money is coming in, this creates a more stressful environment on yourself mentally.

Tuesday – Execute hard! Go full throttle on you mapped out goals, go as hard as you can, work that day like you have 1-hour to turn in your last assignment which is the biggest grade of the semester. This is a method I use because I notice it gets me way ahead of the curve ball later in the week, plus it sets the tone for good momentum.

Wednesday – REPEAT Tuesday. Review your Monday Mapping plan and see where you are on the plan, are you making progress, are you behind. Read over it daily so you’re reminded of what needs to be done and you don’t risk forgetting.

Thursday – Calculate what percentage of your goals have been completed. See what needs to be dropped and can be reassigned. This happens, don’t worry focus on what can be done and completed. Until you get good at setting measurable goals you often will have to tweak them. Again don’t feel like a failure, we tend to over stretch over reach on our goals, that’s okay; over time you’ll get better and know instinctively what needs to be niched down so that you’re successful accomplishing your mapped out goals/plans.

Friday – Reflect, reflect, reflect. Be real with yourself, ask yourself if you’ve given your best to your goals, have you stuck to landig? Now, while reflecting you’re still working, but working with full intention of completing tasks. Seeing where you can add more umph and drive to what it is you’re doing. Are you gassed up or all gassed out? Calibrate yourself and again be realistic, but know how and when to push yourself more. This degree of self-awareness and mental calibration breeds self-honesty plus you see areas in which you may need to outsource. We cannot do it all, but initially as business owners it is not a must it is vital to the success of our business(es).

Saturday – Coast on out! Ride the wave accept what you’ve done and begin to polish up and close out all tasks left or completion.

Photo by Arthur Brognoli on Pexels.com

Sunday – Rest & Reflect. While going into reboot mode, at this point you’ve slowed down, you’ve accepted your projections, you’ve accepted what you’ve completed or not completed, and you are game planning mentally of what you can do better next week.

In closing I know this may seem like a lot, but in fact what I am asking of you may require only 10-15 minutes of your day exempting Monday which may require 60-minutes and that’s okay. You committing 60-minutes to the rest of your week on a Monday can save you hours of your time and money. Don’t sell yourself short by skipping this weekly ritual. Many businesses, corporations, and government entities use Mondays as a means to power-up and motivate their staff. I worked in government and we always set agendas, quotas, plans of execution so that we all could work optimally. If you’re going to be in business for yourself you must begin to do this immediately! Go in God’s speed, be motivated my fellow entrepreneurs!
